Working as part of a leading global automotive forecasting team, the China Powertrain Forecasting Manager will assume responsibility for the on-going delivery of a detailed Light Vehicle powertrain forecast for China, designed to meet the analytical needs of key stakeholders in the local and global automotive sector including OEMs, major component suppliers and others.
Reporting to the Director, Asia-Pacific forecasting in Shanghai, the successful candidate would also have reporting responsibility to the Director, Global Powertrain, based in Oxford, UK.
We are looking for a technically focussed, detail-oriented team player with good communication and management skills.
At least three years’ experience in the automotive sector, preferably with a leading automotive supplier or OEM in China, and an understanding of the key drivers of technical change within the powertrain sector is essential.
Strong English language skills, written and spoken, are required as is a Bachelor degree or above, preferably in engineering or in an automotive-related area.
Manage and contribute to the research and analysis of the Greater China powertrain/New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market resulting in a credible and market-leading forecasting database.
Communicate the value and scope of the powertrain forecast to clients and prospects via industry events, client meetings, networking and presentations.
Develop strong relationships with peers in the industry in order to maximise research potential and gain the insights vital to producing a premium China powertrain forecast.
Display an understanding of key fiscal, technical, regulatory and consumer drivers of change in the China powertrain sector and how these will shape the powertrain sector in the future.
Ensure that the future powertrain strategies of major OEMs, with particular attention to the vital area of NEV activities, are understood and are reflected in the forecast database.
Work with powertrain managers in different regions in order that the resulting database and forecast are globally consistent and that database accuracy is maintained at a high level.
Possess strong database skills and excellent proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
Be able to employ those database and analytical tools, and others, to the best advantage so that forecasts are produced efficiently and deadlines are met.
Demonstrate a strong ability to innovate, problem solve and, above all, contribute to the anticipated strong growth of the company’s light vehicle powertrain service.
